Quiet Mind
I started this sculpture in the spring of 2021. It is made from a dead Madrone that grew right behind the cabin I was born in.
When I started on this sculpture, I didn’t know what I wanted to end up with, I was just enjoying exploring the wood. I slowly worked on it over the next 3 years and let the idea form.
This summer while working on the sculpture, I was doing a practice called “Quiet Mind” that my mentor Nancy Shanteau teaches. The quiet mind process was a big part of the idea for this show ”Back to Center.” As I was working on the sculpture, using a chainsaw to shape it took so much concentration, so I started noticing it helping with the quiet mind process. I started shaping the sculpture to have a quiet and peaceful shape, and continued working on it until being in it’s presence gave me a quiet feeling.
Height: 88 inches
Width: 26 inches
Depth: 24 inches
This sculpture is heavy, and difficult to move, email me to discuss delivery before purchasing.
